Cricket Ground Studio: User Guide

Score ball by ball, put the score on your live video, and stream to YouTube or Facebook with your own key. Use extra phones as cameras. Make posters and highlights. Your matches stay on your own phone or laptop.

Getting started (Android phone)

  1. Open the app. Pick an email from the list or type one. It stays on the phone and is not checked.
  2. Choose how you will use the app: Organizer or Player.
  3. Organizer: open Settings and fill in "Ground name (shown on the live picture)". Tap Save.

Scoring a match

  1. Tap New match, pick or create the two teams and start.
  2. Tap the runs, extras or wicket for each ball. Use undo to fix a mistake.
  3. Swap ends and Retire are keys on the scoring screen. Tap More for penalty runs, the scorecard and the wagon wheel.
  4. Open the scorecard at any time and share it as text.

Going live

  1. Open Settings. Paste your key into "YouTube stream key" or "Facebook stream key", or put a full rtmp:// or rtmps:// address under Other.
  2. Choose the picture quality: 480p for weak internet or an older phone, 720p for good 4G. Tap Save.
  3. Open the live screen and tap Go live. Your keys stay on the phone.
  4. Tip: test your stream for a few minutes before the toss. If the picture stutters, drop to 480p.

Adding camera phones

  1. Install the app on each extra phone. On the opening screen tap "Use this phone as a camera". No sign-in is needed.
  2. Connect the phones over the same Wi-Fi, a hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct (Join network, then scan the QR code) or USB.
  3. You can also add RTSP/ONVIF IP cameras and DroidCam on the same network.
  4. Keep camera phones on charge, or use a power bank, for long matches.

Crowd scoreboard (Android phone)

  1. On the live screen, tap Crowd screen at the top.
  2. On the TV, laptop or another phone, join the same Wi-Fi as the control phone (or its hotspot). Open the browser and scan the QR code or type the link.
  3. The link only shows the score. Nothing can be changed from it. Tap New link to stop the old one, or Turn off to close it.

Posters and player cards

  1. Posters: open a tournament and choose the Posters tab.
  2. Choose Player at the start, then fill in your profile. Only a parent or guardian may fill in the profile of a player under 13.
  3. Your Player ID is made on the phone. It stays the same as long as you keep the app's data. Deleting your data or reinstalling the app gives a new ID.
  4. Share your player card as a link or QR code. The link shows your name, role, city, country, shirt number, Player ID and batting and bowling style to anyone who has it.

Windows laptop studio: setup

  1. Run CricketGroundStudio-Setup.exe. It installs for your user only. If SmartScreen warns you about a test build, choose More info → Run anyway only if you got the file from us.
  2. Set your ground under Settings → The ground.
  3. To activate, open Settings → Licence, paste your key and press Activate. A new laptop gets a 14-day trial.
  4. To update, open Settings → Updates, enter the update address we give you, and press Check for update. Only updates signed by us are installed. Your matches and settings are kept.
  5. Press Match day in the left menu to open today's match.
  6. In Studio, add cameras with the + next to the camera thumbnails, and use Graphics for the score band.

Windows laptop studio: during the match

  1. Score from the Matches screen. Each key shows its keyboard shortcut (for example W for wide, O for wicket, U to undo).
  2. Show a card from the Cards panel on the right: batting card, bowling card, target, partnership and more. Each card shows its shortcut key.
  3. To replay a moment, press Start review (the last seconds) or Keep this moment (last 30 s). The Wicket button keeps the moment by itself.
  4. Posters: open Posters, choose a match, event or team under Fill from, pick a design and change any word in the editor.

Windows laptop studio: phones at the ground

  1. Put the phones on the same Wi-Fi as the laptop.
  2. Umpire: on the Matches screen press "Umpire's phone (QR)" and scan the QR code with the umpire's phone. It shows the over: balls left, its runs, over complete and free hit.
  3. Commentator: press "Commentator screen" to open it on a second monitor, or "Phones: umpire · commentator · walkie-talkie (QR)" to open it on a tablet by QR code. The walkie-talkie is on the same sheet.
  4. Crowd: press "Crowd screen (big scoreboard)" for a big scoreboard on a TV or second screen.
  5. Scoring from a phone's browser: open the address shown on the Home screen under Scoring phone and type the code. After 5 wrong codes the phone is locked out for 10 minutes.

Before match day checklist

  1. Charge every phone and the laptop, and bring a power bank.
  2. Check your stream key with a short test stream.
  3. Keep free space for recordings: about 50 GB on the laptop for a long match.
  4. Put all phones on the same Wi-Fi or hotspot.

iPhone, iPad and Mac app

  1. Use the quick scorer to score runs, wides, no balls and wickets.
